Service Writer/Assistant Manager

Position Summary

A Service Writer is primarily responsible for shaping the entire customer experience at Crossfire Trailer Service. Our Service Writers greet customers, collect their information, create estimates and repair orders for work found during the inspection, sell service/repairs/tires/etc. to customers, order parts, and organize and coordinate the transaction to ensure a smooth customer experience. Our Service Writers effectively use strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills to drive the entire team towards timely and accurate estimates, higher quality repairs, and increased customer satisfaction.

Crossfire Trailer Service is a well renowned trailer repair shop in the Stephenville community, and our customers sometimes drive hundreds of miles to ensure they receive the right level of care. Crossfire Trailer Service specializes in living quarter horse trailers but also performs repairs, services, and modifications to all types of trailers including stock, flatbed, utility, cargo, boat, and specialty.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compile accurate estimates and review them with customers. Keep the customer posted on vehicle status and order parts as needed.
  • Greet customers and answer phones in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Perform all office duties: cash out customers, post vendor invoices, properly handle all other paper flow in the office, open at the beginning of the day, close out at the end of the day.
  • Follow up with customers; call upcoming appointments, and call back customers for satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain office cleanliness and keep it to standard.
  • Monitor and maintain shop vehicles (clean, maintain, and repair).
  • Communicate with Management, Office Staff and/or Customers as needed.
  • Operate vehicles and trailers in a safe and responsible manner and interact with customers in a courteous and friendly manner. Must always promote positive customer relations by maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor in the shop.
  • Assist in maintaining shop and office appearance and safety standards.
  • Assist with inventory and stock.
  • Will be asked to retrieve parts as needed.
  • Will be required to follow all company safety, procedure, and environmental rules.
Work Schedule

  • Shop hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • You are expected to show up at least 15 minutes before the start of the shift and may have to stay up to 30 minutes after the close of business to finish the end of day process
  • This position requires working Saturdays and the assistant manager/service writer will be given one day off during the week keep the 5 day per week work schedule to promote work-life balance
  • Saturdays are low production days, designed for general service, pick-up, drop-off, and parts-only counter sales
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Compensation: $800.00 - $1,100.00 per week
